The Power of Prayer
A sonnet
Nov 14, 2020
I found comfort in silent solitude,
a shelter from the commotion of life.
When reality became slightly skewed
isolation was my safe place to hide.
Alone I dove into my darkest thoughts,
slinking in the shadows of seclusion,
I fixated on found failures and flaws-
they drowned me in deceptive delusions.
I was shackled to the shame of secrets
maddened by monsters maintained in my mind
damnned to destructive dances with demons,
eager to escape emptiness inside.
With unsteady faith, I fell to my knees,
that pivotal prayer brought eternal peace.
