Love Affair

My mind cautions me
to beware
still I delight in
the danger of this love affair.

What I long for most
is something I won’t let go.

I’m devoted to
this sweet seduction,
aware it’s real companion
is overwhelming destruction.

I want to feel okay,
want to forget the pain.

My mind cautions me
to beware,
but still-
I devote myself
to this love affair.
