Broken Hearts Still Beat

Sparks of inspiration ignite within

perpetuating a newfound purpose,

your love harvested hope once dismissed

a sound soul safely brought to surface.

Eternally impacted by that first kiss-

encouragement enriched by your embrace,

your touch bestowed on me baffling bliss

a genuine gallant, granting me grace.

Devotedly you dismantled my doubts

safe in your arms, all my fears fell away

a faithful love I couldn’t live without

at least that’s what I always used to say.

But when you left, I continued to breathe

and I realized broken hearts still beat.
