Breezeblocks

A poem

It’s getting so heavy, I can hardly breathe —

can you not see what it’s doing to me?

I’m crumbling under the weight of your love,

somehow too much yet never enough.

Why do you allow me to drown in insecurities?

Not ready to commit, but not ready to leave

am I clinging to a foolish fantasy?

I promised to always fight for us but

it’s getting so heavy.

It feels like I’m sinking in an open sea

with breeze blocks tied to my feet,

alone because you’re afraid to jump

alone because you’re afraid to trust

can you not see what you’re doing to me?

It’s getting so heavy.
