Arsonist

A rondeau

(Photo by Adam Wilson on Unsplash)

Your love left me breathlessly bound

As sparks of passion flew around

My heart was set ablaze by you

And oh how quickly it’s flames grew

‘Twas a fickle fire I found.

The hungry heat your arson aroused

Held nothing but smoke filled clouds

I gasped for air beneath the fumes

Your love left me.

Memories like embers die down

Ashes of your love on the ground

I stand in rubble of your ruse

Exhaling the poisonous plume

And truth like frigid air surrounds

Your love left me.

My first attempt at a Rondeau. Thanks for reading!
