Are you drowning beneath my waves?
Toss you around like it’s okay
entrapped in my salty being,
you can’t escape.
Beneath the surface lies a dark abyss
it drew you in with our first kiss,
now you gasp as I fill your lungs
don’t dare tell me you’re done.
Above, the sky tried to send a warning
wouldn’t hear the dark parts of me
you jumped feet first into my frigid depths
didn’t know how fast I’d steal your breath.
you swam out too far to turn back
reach up above waves that thrash
back and forth we constantly crash
here we are, at an impasse.
Will I let you survive?
