I started writing poetry in high school as a way to get extra credit and soon found it a way to release the chaos and emotion that I had kept inside for so long. Throughout my life I have gone back to writing when I feel overwhelmed, the more words I get down on paper the less that are swimming around in my mind. My only goal in sharing the thoughts that make their way onto paper is to touch someone's life who may share my story and struggles. I want to write something that means something to someone and makes a difference in their life the way that literature has made a difference in mine. I want people to know that there is hope and beauty past the dark roads of depression and all the ugly things that addiction brings, so I write mostly about these topics. Structured poetry has always intrigued me.
